Dj Cerla presents: DECADANCE!
A short movie about the LIFE of a discotheque. The message is clear: HOUSE MUSIC KILLS THE CLUBS (Is it a joke ?)
Here is what he says:
“This short movie is about the “MARABU”, a huge discotheque built in 1977 in reggio emilia (Italy). It’s been for years the largest club in Europe. Lauro Bonacini, former PR of the club, explains how good it was, 6 nights out of 7, plus Sunday afternoons, all crowded by 5.000 punters (15.000 in the summertime). After a deep crisis in the early 2000’s the Marabù closed, and the summer area (a heavenly place with hills, streams, 6 bars and 2 large dancefloors) was destroyed. Towards the end of the movie, Andrea Contini, the former Light Jockey, explores the parking area of the Marabù, and discovers the signs of an upcoming industrial building: the discotheque is doomed. He actually discovered the signs during the shoot: that’s why we kept the whole sequence: he was really nervous and continued to scratch his head.
The movie is my very first short film; it was shot by me and MASSIMO DALLAGLIO during September, 2005. I also worked a lot to animate the original Marabù pics from the ’70s and ’80’s and to choose a good, cinematic soundtrack. The movie has got no english subtitles, but you will understand very well the “meaning” of it: the message comes from the music, more than from the words. The Marabù is still there.
