World's largest solar system in Murcia

In September the realisation of the world’s largest solar PV-system will start. The 14 MW PV park will be fully operational in the second quarter of 2007.

The project is the first phase of a total generating capacity of 60 MW, which is planned for the province of Murcia. The project in Lobosillo – a small city next to Murcia – encompasses 140 solar systems of 100 kW. The first phase will contain over 83,000 solar modules from Chinese suppliers YingliSolar and TopSolar.

Ecostream Spain, a subsidiary of Econcern, will deliver the turn-key system to Globasol, the Madrid-based sustainable energy company. Globasol was created in 2005 by a group of investors led by the Hidalgo family – owners of Globalia Corporación Empresarial (www.globalia.com). Their main aim is to promote sustainable development in Spain and in particular renewable energy.
