In considerazione delle numerose richieste che mi pervengono in merito a incarichi di insegnamento all'estero, ho il piacere di presentare un elenco di ben 5 diverse universita' americane, tutte di grande prestigio, le quali mettono a disposizione degli interessati, purche' in possesso dei requisiti richiesti, laureati in materie classiche e archeologia, ben 7 incarichi di insegnamento. Il bando di concorso allegato, segnalato dalla APA (American Philological Association), riporta tutti i dettagli utili per chi volesse partecipare. Vi riporto il testo integrale del bando in lingua inglese, ritenendo ovvio che gli interessati conoscano la lingua inglese a livello non certo elementare, ma con una discreta "fluency". POSITIONS FOR CLASSICISTS AND ARCHAEOLOGISTS are published on or about the 15th of each month. 1. UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI – CINCINNATI, OH
The Department of Classics at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a one-year position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics, to begin on September 1, 2009. We seek a generalist. Teaching duties may include a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Greek and Latin as well as courses in classical civilization, mythology, or ancient history. Other duties may include advising and counseling students, and supervising graduate instructors. A Ph.D. in Classics or a related field by the time of the appointment is expected, though we will also consider advanced ABD candidates.

The department offers the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees and has 14 full-time faculty lines. The graduate program is one of the largest in the country, with c. 45 students in residence. The Department is housed as a single unit with offices, classrooms, lecture halls, and library occupying adjoining floors. The Burnam Classics Library contains one of the largest and best Classics, Byzantine, and Modern Greek collections in the world. The teaching load (on the quarter system) consists of five 10-week graduate and undergraduate courses per year.

2. CORNELL UNIVERSITY – ITHACA, NY
The Cornell Archaeology Program invites applications for the Hirsch Postdoctoral Associate in Archaeology starting in fall 2009. We invite applications from scholars who have completed the Ph.D. within the last five years with a specialization in archaeology. The position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. The Hirsch Postdoctoral Associate will teach one undergraduate course (with optional graduate section) each semester, and will deliver at least one public lecture each year (one of which may form part of the Finger Lakes AIA or NYSAA lecture series). The balance of the Hirsch Postdoctoral Associate’s time is to be devoted to his/her own research. The Hirsch Postdoctoral Associate is required to be in residence at Cornell during the semesters of her/his tenure, but is free to conduct fieldwork in the summer or during the winter break if desired. This position is open to all archaeologists, without restriction on area or time period. We seek scholars whose work has broad appeal, preferably interdisciplinary across two or more of the constituent departments of the Cornell Archaeology Program (Anthropology, Classics, Historic Preservation, History of Art and Visual Studies, Near Eastern Studies, and Landscape Architecture) and potentially beyond. The salary for this position will be $40,000 per year, with benefits, and $2,000 per year in research funds. Review of applications will begin May 1, 2009, and will continue until a decision is made.

Eligibility: Applicants must have received the Ph.D. degree no earlier than May 1, 2004. Applicants who will complete all requirements for the Ph.D. degree (including filing the dissertation) by June 30, 2009 are eligible to apply. The completion date for the Ph.D. degree will in no circumstances be waived or extended.

3. KNOX COLLEGE – GALESBURG, IL
The Department of Classics at Knox College invites applications for an anticipated full-time visiting position at the level of instructor or assistant professor, to begin September 2009. The position is for one year. The teaching load will be two courses per term (six courses over three 10-week terms). We seek candidates who are broadly trained and are prepared to teach Latin and Greek at all levels, as well as courses in translation on Greek and Roman culture. 4. LAW SCHOOL ADMISSION COUNCIL – NEWTOWN, PA (Two Positions)
Law School Admission Council (LSAC), an educational service organization that develops and administers the Law School Admission Test (LSAT), seeks the following:

Test Specialists help to develop questions for the LSAT that are of high quality and are sensitive to the diversity of the LSAT population. The position requires the writing, review, and revision of questions that are designed to assess informal reasoning, deductive reasoning, and/or reading comprehension skills. Other duties may include participating in the review and development of informational and test preparation materials as well as participating in research related to the LSAT.

Some training in logic, a broad background in liberal arts, and precise and fluent use of Standard Written English are necessary. Experience in college teaching is desirable. Demonstrated organizational skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and the ability to meet deadlines are required. Educational qualifications include an MA and doctoral-level work in Philosophy, Linguistics, English, Literature, Classics, or some related discipline requiring strong reading, reasoning, and analytical skills. A Ph.D. is preferred.

5. UNITED STATES-ISRAELI EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
Fulbright Israel Post-Doctoral Fellowships for American Researchers in All Academic Disciplines.

The United States-Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF), the Fulbright commission for Israel, offers 10 fellowships to American post-doctoral researchers in support of work to be carried out at Israeli universities during the course of the 2010/2011-2011/2012 academic years.

The US Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program is open to candidates in all academic disciplines.

Program grants total $40,000, $20,000 per academic year.

Program fellows must be accepted as post-doctoral researchers by Israeli host institutions, which agree to provide them with a standard post-doctoral grant, which they will receive in addition to their Fulbright Fellowship. 

Applications for 2010/2011-2011/2012 Fulbright Post-Doctoral Fellowships must be submitted to the Council for International Exchange of Scholars by August 1, 2009.
