Prodotto da Josh Abraham, “Contraband” è l’album d’esordio dei Velvet Revolver, la superband formata da Scott Weiland, ex frontman degli Stone Temple Pilots, tre quarti dei Guns’N'Rose (Slash, il bassista Duff McKagan e il batterista Matt Sorum) e da Dave Kushner (ex-Dave Navarro).

Tredici tracce hard rock con venature grunge con discrete canzoni (”Sucker Train For Blues” “Do It for the Kids” e “Big Machine”) ma nessun capolavoro.
