John Callen è forse il più sconosciuto tra gli attori che fanno parte del cast de Lo Hobbit.

Callen nasce a Londra nel 1946 e all’età di 16 anni si trasperisce in Nuova Zelanda. Oltre ad esssere attore è anche caratterista, doppiatore, artista e regista.
Si è distinto per alcuni ruoli interpretati in telefilm o film neozelandesi come Power Rangers e The Raimbow Warrior.

Nell’ottobre 2010 viene annunciato che intepreterà il nano Oin figlio di Groin ne Lo Hobbit.
