L’attore Alan Cumming e l’illustratore americano Grant Shaffer, dopo due anni di relazione, hanno celebrato l’Unione Civile all’ Old Royal Naval College, vicino a Londra, davanti a 140 invitati fra cui Sir Ian McKellen, Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell, Neve Campbell, Jason Isaacs, Rufus Weinwright, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio e Monica Lewinsky.

Alan Cumming, nato in Scozia, è stato sposato, dal 1985 al 1993, con l’attrice Hilary Lyon. Bisessuale, dopo aver fatto il ‘coming out’ ha sempre dato il suo supporto pubblico al movimento GLBT (gay, lesbiche, bisessuali e transgender). Nel marzo 2005 ha ricevuto un premio ai GLAAD Media Awards per il suo grande contributo nel combattere l’omofobia.
